Madam Akua Donkor, leader and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) wants the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) sued for contempt.
She said this in relation to the injunction on the payment of filing fees which is described by the PPP as outrageous to be paid by political parties to the EC on Ghana Te Sen.
The PPP filed a suit at the High Court early this month, seeking an interlocutory injunction to prevent the Commission from receiving the nominations in protest against what they described as “high” filing fees set by the EC for aspirants.
The Communications Director for the PPP, Paa Kwaw Ackon in an interview on Kasiebo No Coequal said, the presented their draft to the EC as part of fulfilling the requirements only to be met with the collection of their draft by the chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Charlotte Osei after rejecting that of the other parties.
The Electoral Commission is charging GHC 50,000 for presidential aspirants and GHC 10, 000 for the parliamentary aspirants. The PPP took the issue to a high court after they described the fees as too high.
Madam Donkor said, from the PPP taking the issue to court and also presenting their draft to the EC is a trick and should hence be charge for contempt for their attitude.
She also added that, she could have paid the filing fee if it was a trillion. She said, don’t mind those who say President Mahama paid for me, I paid myself and would have paid if it was trillion.
She further added that, she praises President Mahama for his good works done and will continue to announce the good he is doing for the country.
She told Nana Yaa that, her praises to the president would not affect her in this year’s election but will make others say the good she will do if she assumes the seat.
