This year’s annual Ghanafest Columbus Ohio picnic which is slated for Saturday 11th August 2018 will be graced by Ghanian Gospel artists Cee and SP Kofi Sarpong. Also in attendance is the Columbus City Council Chair and representatives.
A very colorful event which brings together Ghanaians from all across the United States especially Columbus Ohio to witness a celebration and showcasing of our rich culture and its diversity which is presented to the American society.
The celebration which usually begins around 10am ET, brings together churches within the Ghanaian society and all the local chiefs and its entire members. A formal parade with the Ghanaian anthem and that of the U.S anthem is played to commence the days events.
Chiefs within the Ghanaian community will later walk in their colorful regalia displaying all the customs and traditions upon which they represent. Cultural drumming and dancing and gospel artistes sing and dancing on stage for masses to enjoy.
Also added is a grand soccer tournament which is played amongst the Ghanaian churches. This year, many do hope that the Methodist church will still retain the prestigious trophy. Others also strongly believe this could definitely be the year for a youthful Pentecost Church to dominate the tournament. The event will be held at the Maloney park in Columbus Ohio.
