Economist Kusi Boafo has said that government’s decision to extend the IMF deal is a laudable one and should be supported.
The lecturer at the Kumasi Polytechnic said the economy before the inception of this new government was in a worse state. This according to him will require sometime for the new government to set things back on track and aid it work accordingly.
Speaking on Top FMs News Analysis Show Enne Ghana to sit-in host Kwesi Fokuo Kudom Kayasso, he said, the tattered economical state inherited by the current administration will take some years to recover hence the need to extend the IMF program.
The Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation Dr Anthony Akoto Osei in an interview with the media said the current administration is considering the extension of the IMF program.
This Mr Boafo has expressed satisfaction over so as to help the NPP government lift the country from the massive setbacks it has and is facing.
He further stated that, the out-gone National Democratic Congress run the economy down by engaging frivolous expenditures like buying of a six hundred and forty-one saloon and cross-country vehicles which are sitting at Flag Staff House and 65, 000 Sports Utility Vehicle as a gift for Akua Donkor, the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party.
“When the richest man in the United States of America, Warren Baffet does not even drive a car worth that amount”.
Ghana entered into a three year bailout deal with the IMF in April 2015 for a total amount of $918 million to build the economy.
