Some residents of Gbawe Zero in the Wieja/ Gbawe constituency are appealing to their current Member of Parliament, Hon Mrs Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah to repair their roads for them.
The road which was in bad shape was graded but has been left untarred producing more dust working against the health of the residents in the area.
Some persons speaking on Ghana Nti, a segment on Top FM’s Morning Show Ghana Te Sen said the untarred nature of the road has produced much dust in the area, destroying their properties and health.
This has the ability to cause respiratory related diseases.
Speaking to Dr DJ, a resident said, the thickness of the dust produced anytime a car passes by brings a lot of misfortunes.
Uncle Finn, a resident said, “A car knocked down someone and I even had to drive the person to the Korle hospital. I visited yesterday only to realize the leg of the person has been broken, this wouldn’t have happened if our road was tarred”.
He added that, the slender nature of their gutters do not allow free flow of water in it, causing flood in their houses at the slightest down pour.
Another resident who spoke on anonymity also expressed worry over the absence of public toilet facility in the area.
She appealed to Hon Ayeley Mensah to get them a facility as soon as possible.
Our reporter on the grounds revealed that a portion of the road has been tarred leaving the rest. A resident in reply said the NDC government headed by former MP of the area, Oboubia Darko seeking re-election started tarring the roads but stop afterwards.
They all appealed to their MP to respond to their plea as that was the basis of their votes to her.
