Outgoing coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Avram Grant says, the Black Stars defeat to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is his most difficult defeat ever in his coaching history.
The 60-year-old Israeli trainer decided to terminate his contract with the Ghana Football Association after leading the team to a fourth place finish in the just ended Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
According to him, it is the greatest defeat he has ever tasted in his life as a coach. Being defeated in a champion’s league is painful but loosing at the country side is more painful, he said.
Mr Grant confessed to me (Sannie Daara) that, Ghana’s defeat to the Cameroonians was the most difficult defeat he’s tasted as a coach in his life. He said the Champions League defeat was painful but the defeat against Cameroon was most painful because it was for a country and not at the club side”, Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara has said.
Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara says out-going Ghana coach Avram Grant was gutted after the defeat to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Mr Daara in an interview with Happy FM said “After the loss against Cameroon, I was thinking deep about the cause of the defeat at about 3:00 am in my hotel suit, so I was not able to sleep but I later heard someone knocking at my door and when I went to open, it was Avram”.
Sannie Daara who had goose bumps and almost cried at the confession of the coach added that, Mr Grant had told him how much he needed the trophy and how saddened he is at the loss of it.
