Even though many of the gospel artists in the country shy away from open politics and hide in their closet and do it, Philipa Baafi has other wise revealed how she loved doing politics.
According to her, she love politics and will continue to love politics as long as she is alive’
She said it will be difficult any Christian to say he or she does not do politics even God was engaged in politics by choosing leaders for his people on earth.
The fact that God chose leaders for the people of Israel was an indication that God loves politics and Christians must do same.
It will not be prudent for Christians to wait for the so- called politicians to cause destruction of a nation before regrouping at a place like the Independence Square to seek God’s mercies.
When we are the very people who kept quiet as Christians for the politicians to destroy our destiny”. she said
She noted as a Christian ‘we not be singled out by the politician to buy our bread from a particular shop when the price of bread are reduced by the politician through prudent economic management.
According to her, when the gains of the economy becomes bright everybody will enjoy including the Christian so why should we sit aloof when things are going wrong.
She said aside praying as well as preaching Christianity through music, she participates in politics too since it affects everybody.
The gospel artist who created a headline song ‘Go Go High’ for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008 for the then presidential and parliamentary elections; made this revelation on the Obaapa, segment on the Ghana Te Sen morning show hosted by Nana Yaa Baoposem Ameyaw on Top FM.
The segment for celebrating women of excellence in their field, saw the gospel musician Mrs Baafi said it cannot be right for Christians to shy away from politics because i voted in the last elections.
When asked who she voted for, she failed to tell the host the particular political party she voted for in the last elections.
Mrs Baafi was reminded of some rumours making the rounds that, she a member of the NPP, she retorted so be it if that is what Ghanaians think about me.
