The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is advising Ghanaians to look out for other security personnels on the day of elections at their various polling centers as the Ghana Police Service are not the only security services in the country.
Mrs Joyce Afutu, Communications Director for the NCCE on Top FM’s Morning Show dubbed Ghana Te Sen said the have been several complaints from some individuals of absence of police men on their voting grounds. This she said Ghanaians should take note of as other security servicers like the military, immigration and other also play the same role as police.
These personnels on the grounds will ensure maximum safety of a voter, provide protection for the ballot boxes and other assigned duties, she added.
Mrs Afutu reiterated that, peace before, during and after elections cannot be attained by just the presence of security persons but a collaborative effort from all Ghanaians.
She advised that, a voter should go home after voting since there are designated party agents who will help in supervision for all political parties, there is no need for a supporter to be on the grounds to play the watchman duty.
She further said, campaign ends on the voting day and no campaign should be witnessed 500 meters radius away from the voting grounds.
She also cautioned against drinking before voting as it can interfere in decision made and attitude exhibited on the grounds.
Multiple voting is against the law. Impersonation also is that is why there was a chance for proxy voting, where you will be given the chance to vote for the other person who is absent based on his or her believe in you were all stated Mrs Joyce Afutu as part of teachings given to Ghanaians before voting takes place.
