Hon Adu Asare, a presidential staffer has described the act by the President and the council of state in releasing the Montie Trio as professional.
He said the president has proven to be a caring and compassionate father who feels pity for his children.
“President has proven that he is compassionate, a good father and one who listens to the plea of those in distress”, he stated”.
“…He saw he had the power to exercise his power granted him in article 72 to release the trio and did exactly that by consulting the council of state before taking any action” he added.
Mr. Asare said the council of state is a representation of Ghanaians from various regions, pastors, leaders and chiefs who are sound in the mind and very intelligent at what they do which has led to the president accepting their advice.
Dissolve council of state
Meanwhile, Maurice Ampaw a legal practioner has requested for the dissolution of the council of state. Expressing shock at the decision of the president to release the trio, he said council of state is a needless institution which has no good advice for the president.
Describing the Mr Mahama as a president for the NDC he said, he has belittled the judiciary and hence advising them to go on strike to make President Mahama know that he has just been given the mandate to lead the country but does not own it.
Condemnation by the NPP
The New Patriotic Party, NPP also in a statement signed by the director of communications, Nana Akomea has condemned the act of the president. They described the remission as an endorsement by the president of unacceptable behaviors in society and also disrespect for the judicial authority.
According to the statement, the NPP wishes to that steps will be taken to ensure the reverse of the president’s decision.
The statement ended with a call on Ghanaians to vote out a governance of incompetence in order to restore law and order in the country.
