Mohamed Abdul Kudus spokesperson for the Northern Region demonstrators says, joblessness and increase in electricity tariffs is the reason for their demonstration.
“We use to wallow in poverty and hunger which was manageable, now with the increase in tariffs, the people think enough is enough and can take it no more, hence the need to demonstrate on this day”.
President John Dramani Mahama’s is on a campaign tour in the Northern Region but was met with demonstration by some persons in the region who are jobless.
Mr. Kudus said members of the major opposition political parties in the country are all part of the demonstration.
“CPP, PPP, NDP, APC, PPP and the NPP came together to speak against the hardship being experienced in the country, climaxed by the unprecedented hikes in electricity tariffs”.
Mr. Mohamed Kudus in conclusion said there were attempt to stop the demonstrators but was to no avail, hence the commencement.
Our correspondent, Hamza who was with the demonstrators revealed that, the absence of jobs leading to poverty is the reason for the demonstration.
