The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, Hon Amadu Sorogho has assured workers of the ECG that no one will be sacked when the privatization takes place.
This revelation follows recent impasses among the Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) and the Government over the allege privatization of the ECG and fear of them losing their jobs. PUWU for some time now have been demonstrating over the privatization process.
Angry ECG workers have brought an end to their two-day strike. The workers will resume service to their clients this morning. Today marks the second day of their protest which saw them boycott work over the decision by government to privatize the state power distributor.
But speaking on Top FM’s “Ghana Te S3n” morning show Tuesday Edition hosted by Nana Yaa Boamponsem Ameyaw, Alhaji Sorogho expressed worries over the misinformation that people are sending to the workers of the ECG that made them believe they will lose their jobs but assured them of a permanent job.
He also advised people not to play politics with the issue as he said the privatization of ECG needs a national discussion and deliberation in order not to blow the matter out of proportion as its been speculated.
Hon Sorogho again commended the workers of ECG for calling off their strike action and returning back to work.
