A yam market at Asekye in Nkoranza North District has been left abandoned after its completion for 2 years now.

The Movement for Nkoranzaman Development in a press release cited that, the market is not serving its purpose after constructing it and the place has left bushy for animals to have their habitat and which causes a major threat to the people of Asekye.

Hon. Peter Osei Ofosu, DCE of Nkoranza said the market is not fully complete to be used and that’s the reason for its current state.

He noted that there is no electricity in the town, and it must take about 1km to transfer light to the place, he said on the Final Point Show with Kwabena Owusu Agyemang on Top103.1 FM yesterday.

“Is not that we did not think about the people before moving them to the open place and so they need much time to be able to make it useable, so they need to be patient because he came to meet the project and that he was informed in less than 2 hours in commissioning the project”, he said.

In a quiz by the host, that in the name of Nkoranzaman, they should see to it the place gets ready for use in the second quarter of next year, the DCE in his response assured that the market will be available for its usage, and they are putting in measures to make it effective.

The yam market was led by Hon. Derrick Oduro, former Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North in its building and completed in 2020.
