The Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said he was profoundly disappointed with the outcome of proceedings in Parliament regarding the vote on the ministerial nominees.

He stated that while it is true that they did not achieve the desire to reduce the number of ministers under this government, “I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the over 100 NDC MPs who worked tirelessly to represent the will of the majority of the Ghanaian people.

“These MPs have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the betterment of our society. Their tireless efforts to push for a reduction in the number of ministers are a testament to their dedication to our shared cause.”

The Ajuamko Enyan Essiam lawmakers further said in a statement that “While the outcome may not have been what we had hoped for, I believe we can still work together to achieve our goals. I remain hopeful that, by continuing to engage in constructive dialogue and collaboration, we can find a way forward that benefits all Ghanaians.

“Once again, I want to express my disappointment, but I am also grateful for the efforts of those who worked to represent our collective vision for a better Ghana. Let us continue to strive toward a brighter future.”

Dr Forson’s Deputy Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah also said the NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) have to quickly reorganize themselves and move on following the defeat in Parliament on Friday, March 24 in the vote to approve the ministerial nominees.

He said he was naturally devastated following the results but woke up this morning feeling stronger and convinced that “we simply lost a battle and not the war.”

“We necessarily have to regroup and soldier on for there are many battles ahead and I know with God on our side we shall win the war in the end. The victory of the NDC is coming again and nothing can stop it,” the Ellembelle Lawmaker tweeted.

Meanwhile, Former President John Dramani Mahama has chastised the opposition MPs for secretly voting to approve the ministerial nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He said the MPs have “sorely disappointed” Ghanaians given the principled stance they took a few weeks ago to reject the nominees in order to force government to reduce its size.

“I am also disappointed,” he wrote on his official Facebook page on Saturday, March 25, a day after Parliament approved all six nominees following a secret ballot.

“Those responsible for this betrayal must do some serious soul searching and learn to place national interest over personal interest,” he demanded.

He also took on the Akufo-Addo-led government for missing an opportunity to reduce its size following the resignation of some ministers.

“Clearly in this time of crisis and excruciating hardships, President Akufo-Addo, his NPP administration and some of our MPs are out of tune with the mood of the Ghanaian people.”

He assured Ghanaians and all disappointed with the outcome of Friday’s proceedings in Parliament not to despair but to vote for him next year in order to “to work and build the Ghana we all want from January 07, 2025.”
