Asante Kotoko have reportedly opened discussions with Maxwell Konadu over a potential return to the club as head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Porcupine Warriors are in the market for a new head trainer following the resignation of Karim Zito.

His departure was followed by another setback, with interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu also stepping down from his role.

In the interim, youth team coach Abdul Gazale has been handed the responsibility to steer the team until the end of the current campaign.

According to media reports, Kotoko’s leadership is weighing up their options for a long-term appointment, with Konadu emerging as a leading candidate.

The  Ghana U-20 coach has previously managed the club in two separate spells and is now being considered for a possible third tenure.

Sources indicate that the club’s three-member board is deliberating between appointing an expatriate coach or turning to Konadu, who remains the preferred local option under consideration.

Konadu, who is currently in charge of Ghana’s U-20 national team, is said to be open to a return to his former side should negotiations progress successfully.
