The Ashanti Regional NPP Youth wing in collaboration with coalition of Free SHS Graduates and First time voters association commemorated world menstrual hygiene day by sharing sanitary pads to some selected Junior High schools within the Oforikrom constituencies
The schools that benefited from the exercise include ANWOMASO M/A JHS and AYIGYA NURIYA ISLAMIC BASIC SCHOOL . As part of the commemoration , some nurses and resource persons were invited to Educate the pupils about hygiene
Globally , every May 28, the world marks World Menstrual Hygiene Day, a time to spotlight the importance of menstrual health, which must be recognized as the complete physical, mental, and social well-being of women and girls in relation to the menstrual cycle.
Mr Michael Aidoo, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom Constituency was the special guest for the occasion.
In his address to the students, he highlighted the significance of menstrual hygiene and reinforced the NPP’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of young girls.
He also presented additional sanitary pads to the pupils, ensuring they had the necessary resources to manage their menstrual health effectively.
The event underscored the importance of community support and education in promoting menstrual hygiene and aimed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation.
By providing sanitary pads and hygiene education, the initiative sought to empower young girls to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence
