The NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has expressed shock at the extent of damage reported in the news of the unfortunate incident of the explosion which occurred on Thursday, January 20, at Appiate in Bogoso, where dozens of people lost their lives with many injured and many other properties lost.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture, sent his words of commiseration to the victims of the explosion and their families in a release issued by his team to console them and to ask for God’s intervention.
The release said, “The unexpected and sorrowful news of gas explosion at Appiate between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region on Thursday, January 20, 2022 has left me in a state of shock and disbelief.
“My deepest sympathy therefore goes to the injured and their affected families, and I hope and pray, the Almighty God would heal the injured, assuage the pains of the affected families and preserve the souls of the victims till eternity;
According to reports, a truck carrying explosives from Maxam Ghana Limited, and intended for Chirano Gold Mines, was involved in an incident that caused the explosives to explode.
The incident is said to have occurred when the truck carrying the explosives collided with a motorcycle, many people are reported to have died from the explosion with scores of people injured.
The explosion also caused severe damage to buildings in the community, virtually razing the community to the ground.
