Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has called on all Members of Parliament to support Electrochem Ghana Limited (EGL) in its operations at the Songhor Salt Mines. Speaking in Parliament, Annoh-Dompreh emphasized the importance of the project to the country’s economic development and urged his colleagues to rally behind the company.
The Majority Chief Whip’s comments come amid ongoing controversy surrounding the Songhor Salt Mines agreement, with some local communities and stakeholders raising concerns about the project’s impact. However, Annoh-Dompreh’s statement suggests that the Majority Caucus is throwing its weight behind Electrochem, urging MPs to support the company’s efforts to develop the salt mines.
Annoh-Dompreh call for support may help to ease tensions between Electrochem and local communities, but it remains to be seen how his comments will be received by those who have raised concerns about the project.
