General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah has revealed that the party is not and will not be against the collection of tax in the country but it has to be human centered.
Speaking at the NDC public forum on the 2022 budget titled:# “DropThe Awudie Budget” at Alisa hotel in Greater Accra today, General Mosquito as he is popularly referred to said that the collection of taxes should not over burden the tax payer.
The NDC as a party collected taxes previously and will collect tax when voted into power again but Ghanaians should know how and what the tax is used for, he added.
According to him, tax is the basic means of revenue collection by the government to run the economy and the NDC knows that fact however the 1.75% E-Levy and its introduction at this time will only hurt and over burden the Ghanaian tax payer hence the need to reject its implementation now.
