Founder for the Independent Election Security and compliance watchers Richard Kumadoe, has accused the Ghana Peace Council for lack of capacity in dealing effectively with current election related conflicts, and future complex political electioneering issues, which makes the role of Peace Council and the tussle of collating political related views, and resolving grievances more difficult for the Council.
According to him, in the area of advocacy, he seriously believes that, IDEG could play that single role very effectively: thus, using the IDEG platform to bring political parties and others-alike, more especially, instititions and centralised independent people who comments and engages in political-security actions and election activities, to provide true solutions that prevents, and addresses issues of electoral outcome discrepancies and mitigation formulae against election violence.
He emphasized that the Council is struggling due to inadequacies of resources, and have positioning issues, which brings to the fore, the lack of needed support and unwillingness for key stakeholders to cooperate with them, making them an unfavourable spot for dialogue and discussions on national election predicaments and related exigencies.
Mr. Kumadoe was of the view that, the political temperature in Ghana is a bit higher and pressurised, and the items on the table for discussion might be a bit weightier than the Ghana Peace Council Platform, and I would suggest an alternate approach, which will focus more on proactive preventive methodologies, otherwise, much results will not be achieved, and divisions and diversions will become problematic item for both the Ghana Peace Council and Ghanaians to deal with.
