Police man killed in a shootout with armed robbers

The Upper East Regional Police Command have began rigorous investigations into a robbery incident along the Zebilla–Widnaba road in the Bawku Division, which resulted in the death of a Police officer on duty.

Police reports indicates that the incident happened on Sunday, 8th February 2026. The deceased and another officer encountered the robbers in action while travelling towards Zebilla.

The robbers opened fire on the officers, hitting one of the officers in the process.

The officers was sent to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he sadly gave up the ghost. The body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police command has began investigations to identify and arrest all persons involved to face of the law.
