Dating a policeman’s daughter got me into trouble – Kojo Antwi drops secret [Details]

Legendary Ghanaian music icon, Kojo Antwi has recounted a past experience in his musical career that almost ended his colorful journey as a sound man.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, the singer, known affectionately in the world of music as “Mr. Music Man” said a relationship with a police officer’s daughter was what nearly sent him back to dreaming to become a musician.

Kojo Antwi recounted the incident which according to him happened about 50 years ago and shaped a lot of his later decisions in the game after he had become a household name.

According to him while performing at a popular venue back in the days around Kaneshie, his girlfriend at that time who was supposed to be in school showed up at the place. Kojo Antwi narrated that he had to cut short the performance just escort the lady home in other not get into any trouble.

Kojo said while he was waiting for a taxi at the road side, a police patrol team showed up to question him.

“I decided to send her home. So I took her to try grab taxi for her go home. We were there and the police patrol team just bumped into us, and they started asking us questions. One question. They won’t even wait for answers,” Kojo Antwi said.

The “Adiepena” composer quickly added that things took a nasty turn when the patrol team took them to the girls mother, only for it to come out that the girl’s father was a senior officer at the Nima Police station who had been roaming around town searching for them.

“I hadn’t had time to talk to her about her dad. She had never mentioned the daddy. I didn’t know he was a police officer at Nima police station. That’s a part time, I mean, most people didn’t know about me,” he said.

Kojo Antwi further added that it was a terrible idea to date a police officer’s daughter back in the days because nobody had much regard for musicians as people who could achieve anything.

“Back then, It wasn’t something that came with prestige, nothing. It’s not something that a policeman would want the daughter to be attached to”.
