The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) will today, Friday, 4 February 2022, hold a meeting to deliberate on the outcome of the court hearing initiated against it by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
This follows a directive asking the NLC and UTAG to settle their differences out of court.
The association will, therefore, be expected to initiate processes to suspend its ongoing strike at its meeting.
A statement issued by the UTAG on Thursday, 3 February 2022 and co-signed by its National President Solomon Nunoo and National Secretary Dr Asare Asante-Annor noted that in view of the court’s directive, the association will meet to “deliberate and act on the admonition from the Judge.”
It added that: “Meanwhile, UTAG awaits the concessions of the Employer vis-à-vis our demands.”
The Labour Division of the High Court in Accra on Thursday, 3 February 2022, told the leadership of the UTAG and the National Labour Commission (NLC) to resolve their differences out of court.
The NLC and UTAG have until Thursday, 10 February 2022, to report back to the court.
