Police in the Central Region have announced the arrest and sentencing of a 20-year-old armed robber named Mohammed Bello.
He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a robbery incident near Gomoa Buduatta on the Kasoa-Winneba road.
Mohammed Bello was apprehended on Saturday July 5, 2025 around 12:30 a.m after he and his four accomplices, who are currently on the run, attacked and robbed drivers and passengers at Dabayin junction.
They were said to have robbed mobile phones, electronic gadgets, personal belongings and an amount of GH¢3,740.00 from their victims.
Mohammed Bello was arrested while attempting to flee and a search conducted on him by the police revealed two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a lady’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a phone charger head, and a pair of sandals belonging to one of the victims.
He pleaded guilty before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Tuesday, July 8, and subsequently sentenced to 25 years.
