A Ghanaian businessman named Fred Akowuah has died from a gunshot wound at his home in Airport Residential Area, prompting an investigation by the Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to determine whether he shot himself or was shot by another person.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with detectives working to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to information from police and family sources cited by *The Chronicle*, Akowuah and his wife had been separated after 15 years of marriage. The couple, who met in the United States, have a 12-year-old son.
The report stated that their marriage had faced challenges, with family sources linking some of the disagreements to Akowuah having an eight-year-old daughter from outside the marriage.
