Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Tayyip Erdoğan on his re-election as President of the Republic of Türkiye.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has won re-election, according to the country’s Supreme Election Council and unofficial data from the state-run Anadolu Agency, in a tense run-off after he failed to secure more than 50 percent of votes required for an outright victory in the first round on May 14, the international media reported on Monday, May 29.
With almost all of the votes counted, Erdogan received 52.14 percent of votes in the second round on Sunday, beating his challenger, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who won 47.86 percent, according to the Supreme Election Council, the reports further said.
In a tweet, President Akufo-Addosaid “The Ghanaian people and I extend warm congratulations to H.E Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (@RTErdogan) on his re-election as President of the Republic of Türkiye.
“I look forward to working with him and his administration to strengthen and deepen the bonds of friendship and co-operation that exist between our two countries, which have been based on a shared agenda of freedom, development, progress and prosperity.”
