The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has officially launched the Homowo Clean-up Exercise as he has ordered for the closure of all shops within the areas where the cleanup exercises will take place.
According to the Ga King, the clean-up exercise will start from the 2nd July to the 2nd of August and will be moving from assemblies to assemblies as he says any assembly where the exercise will take place, all shops within the area will be closed.
The Ga Mantse gave this order when he led the group of Chiefs and elders and other stakeholders to launch the Homowo Clean-up Exercise on the theme: Let’s keep Accra Clean. Which aims at help clean the city of filt and inculcate the habit of cleanliness in the hearts and minds of Ghanaians.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II stressed that this is an important occasion as he says that all residents of Accra must engage themselves in when the main exercise begins.
He therefore urged the various assemblies to enforce the various sanitation by-laws as he calls for strict prosecution of all those who violate the sanitation by-law.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, on his part, expressed enthusiasm on the move, which seeks to make Accra cleanest city as he urged the various MMDCEs to patrol their assemblies to ensure that, Ghanaians adhere to the clean environment initiative.
On her part, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan also reaffirmed the government’s efforts to support the clean environment initiative as she says, they have retool the various assemblies with plenty equipment to used in the clean-up exercises calling on all stakeholders to come on board.
