Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Public Sector Reforms says the time is right for Chiefs to pay taxes on the sale of lands.

“Our traditional leaders demand development from government; be it water, tarred roads, electricity among others but they do not pay taxes on the lands they sell” he stated.

According to Mr. Kusi Boafo in an interview with Kwabena Owusu Agyemang on the “Final Point” Political Show on Top 103.1 FM, the government is widening the tax net and all these persons and categories will be captured in it.

“If you expect development then you have to pay tax”, he added.

He indicated that, government will discover means of collecting taxes to generate revenues to development the country.

Mr. Boafo’s statement comes on the back of the controversial E-Levy and issues that have erupted from it so far.
