The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning regarding two impending rainstorms expected to impact the nation on Thursday, May 16.

As per their morning forecast, dual rainstorms are on course, with the Nigerian storm anticipated to reach the land by approximately 9:30 am. Coastal and northern regions are likely to experience heavy downpours, accompanied by strong winds and thunderous conditions.

The statement elucidated, “A rainstorm that is moderately producing thunderstorms with rain over northern Benin into Togo is expected to drift further westwards to affect the northern half of Ghana. However, a separate rainstorm observed over Nigeria is also expected to propagate westwards to affect the coastal and middle sectors of the country.”

GMet highlighted the escalated risk of flooding and wind damage, urging residents in susceptible areas to remain vigilant and undertake necessary precautions.
