Kotoko player Bernard Somuah joins Celta Vigo on permanent 4 year deal

Spanish club RC Celta de Vigo have secured the permanent signing of Ghanaian forward Bernard Somuah Sarpong from Asante Kotoko SC, committing the young talent to a long-term contract that runs until June 2030.

The 19-year-old winger, who originally moved to Spain on a loan-to-buy basis in August 2024, has seen his buyout clause triggered following a string of decisive performances that have made him a cornerstone of the club’s sporting project.

Somuah’s ascent within the “Canteira Celeste” has been remarkably swift. After an initial adaptation period with the Juvenil A squad, he was promoted to Celta Fortuna, the club’s reserve team, where he made his Primera FederaciÃ³n debut on the opening day against Zamora CF.

Since then, he has become a regular fixture in Fredi Ãlvarez’s tactical setup, logging over 800 minutes in the third tier. His impact has been immediate, tallying five goals and proving to be a nightmare for defenders with his explosive pace and technical proficiency in one-on-one duels.

The Ghanaian’s contributions have been instrumental in Celta Fortuna’s promotion charge. His most iconic moment came during a dramatic comeback against Talavera at Barreiro, where he netted a stoppage-time winner to secure three points.
