A leading Member and General Secretary hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Iddrisu Musah Superior has touted the democratic credentials of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He described the President as a devout democrat and a firm believer and practitioner of the rule of law rebutting claims the President will kowtow to pressure from some persons to ask him to step down in the race for the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

Musah Superior therefore described as false rumors making rounds that the President has asked him to discontinue his ambition to become the General Secretary of the Party. He stated that he has known the President since the days of the Danquah/Busia club in the early 1990s.

“When he first contested for the flagbearership of our Party in 1998, l supported and worked for him in the north. I was his Campaign Aide during the 2016 elections campaign. I know him too well. He doesn’t contradict democracy or democratic practices”.

Musah Superior emphasized that the President believes in growing and promoting young people; and will never stand in the way of any person’s growth and development and political ambition.

The NPP General Secretary hopeful wondered why some people are pushing this falsehood in the system. He called on the captains of the Peoples’ Campaign and Party people to disregard the propaganda and continue to work harder and keep campaigning in the nuke and cranny of the country to ensure that he receives a “strong mandate in July to lead the operations of the Party in the most efficient manner”.

” l am in this race to win. Winning means securing the mandate of the Party and leading the mobilization to garner more votes to win the 2024 elections” he said.

The General Secretary hopeful lamented the lack of equipment for Parry’s Constituency Communications and Research officers. He said on his watch as General Secretary, he will ensure that “our Party offices are reasonably equipped for the effective administration of the local constituency Parties”.

Musah Superior is confident of winning and called on the delegates to vote massively for him as General Secretary to revive the “weak base of our Party and prepare it adequately for the campaign towards 2024”
