77 suspects have been arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command, through its Special Operations Team (Red Maria) in special operations conducted within the Temale Metropolis and the Savelugu Municipality.
The arrests forms part of the ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to clamp down on drug peddling and all related crimes in the region.
The operation took place on Monday, March 23, 2026 at around 9:30 p.m. with a team of security personnel totaling about 33.
The arrests were carried out at places identified as hotspots for drugs and crimes in the region.
Another suspects was arrested at Aboabo market with substances believed to be cocaine.
One suspect who was reported to be supplier of drugs at NOBISCO was also arrested but a seach at his residence did not lead to the retrieval of any drugs of illegal material.
All suspects have currently been placed into police custody pending more investigations by the service to get to the bottom of the matter.
