Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 4 folding smartphone will bring a significant battery upgrade over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G. The latest revelation seemingly confirms earlier rumors that the device will come with a sizeable battery upgrade over the Z Flip 3 5G. According to earlier reports, the Z Flip 4 will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz Super AMOLED main display. In addition, it will reportedly ship with a 2.1-inch Super AMOLED external display with an unspecified resolution.
The leak further revealed that the Z Flip 4 would sport a dual-camera setup comprising two 12-megapixel sensors, one of which will be mated to an ultra-wide lens. The inner selfie cam will reportedly be a 10-megapixel unit. It also reportedly comes with 8GB of RAM alongside 128 and 256GB storage options. As for the battery, the leak suggested that the Z Flip 4 will sport a 3,700mAh battery with 25W wired charging support. The latest report now indicates that the earlier leak was very likely accurate. Alongside the previous leak, live photos of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 also showed up on YouTube recently, showing off many of its key design elements.
SamMobile has published two images of batteries that are said to go into the Z Flip 4. The batteries have rated capacities of 2,555mAh and 1,040mAh, totaling 3,595mAh. If the report is accurate, this would mean the Z Flip 4 would have a larger battery than its predecessor, which sports a 3,300mAh battery. Furthermore, it would also mean that when paired with the newer and more efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it should offer a much longer battery life overall than the Z Flip 3. As for the rumors that the Z Flip 4 battery would be rated at 3,700mAh, SamMobile speculates Samsung would market the 3,595mAh battery as having a typical capacity of 3,700mAh.
It would be interesting to see how the Galaxy Z Flip 4 compares to its predecessor, but the recent rumors suggest that it would only offer minor upgrades over its predecessor both in terms of design and hardware. However, most of the upgrades will be pretty nice to have, nonetheless. There would also be hope among the Galaxy faithful and folding phone aficionados that the device will bring generational improvements in terms of reliability and durability, which have been among the biggest challenges for folding devices.
Meanwhile, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4, many of the critical specifications of the Z Fold 4 have also recently been leaked online, revealing a few noteworthy upgrades over its predecessor. According to the leak, the device will have a 7.6-inch QXGA+ 120Hz folding AMOLED display on the inside and a 6.2-inch HD+ 120Hz AMOLED cover display on the outside. Other tech specs include a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. In addition, the phone is said to ship with a triple-camera setup on the outside and an under-display selfie camera on the inside. The Samsung Z Fold 4 will also reportedly ship with a 4,400mAh battery and run Android 12 out-of-the-box.
