In a distressing incident this morning at Dansoman Sahara near the Majesty’s secondary school in Accra, a fire engulfed the ground floor apartment of a two-storey building, causing damage to one out of four rooms. Tragically, a two-month-old baby sustained injuries and was rushed to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Prompt response from firefighters within eight minutes of the distress call proved crucial in containing the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the contents of one bedroom.
Despite the harrowing ordeal, firefighters from the Dansoman Fire Station led by ADO I Randy Nettey acted swiftly, confining the fire to the ground floor and preventing harm to the upper floors. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, while efforts to extinguish the blaze continued until 1224 hours.
