The Police has secured an injunction from an Accra High Court against a plan by a group to demonstrate at parliament house today, Wednesday, 8 December 2021.
The group, known as Justice for Ghana, is led by former People’s National Convention (PNC) Chairman, Bernard Mornah.
The group will hit the streets of Accra to protest against the e-levy proposed in the 2022 budget.
Its members also plan to protest at parliament house until their demands are met.
But in a statement on Tuesday, the Police said they have secured a court order to restrain the group from occupying Parliament and its surroundings.
According to the Police, the decision was necessary to safeguard the security and public health of MPs, the general public and demonstrators.
The statement, further, noted that the Service had put in place adequate measures for the planned demonstration except the premises of Parliament which the group had earlier indicated they will occupy.
