Kumawood actor, Bill Asamoah has said that veteran actors and actresses who resort to begging for funds from the public are not members of the Actors Guild

The Ghana Actors Guild is an umbrella organization that is supposed to see to the welfare of individuals in the movie industry. Some members of the guild have attacked them countless times for ignoring their responsibilities.

Recall that some of these veteran actors and actresses came to beg for funds from the public either to support themselves or cater for their drugs. A popular example is Psalm Adjetey Fio of Taxi driver fame. The actor has been in the media to beg for funds on countless occasions.

Ghanaian actress, popularly known as Maame Gyanwaa of ‘Cow and Chicken’ fame some time back also came to the media to beg for support from the public over her health condition. She disclosed that she needed eye surgery and did not have the funds to undergo the surgery.

Speaking in an interview with Abeiku Santana, Bill Asamoah indicated that the actors guild has a welfare scheme that supports its members.

He disclosed that most of the actors who have been seen begging for funds are people who have been adamant about the Association. “Most of my colleagues are overwhelmed by the stardom. When they have the name and are being hailed, they think they are bigger than certain things happening around them. They don’t join the actor’s guild,” he said.
