Manchester City’s new Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo is set for his potential UEFA Champions League debut after the club secured automatic qualification for the knockout stage with a 2-0 win over Galatasaray.

The result saw City finish eighth in the league, granting them a direct pass to the Round of 16.

Since his high-profile £65 million move from Bournemouth in January, Semenyo has been ineligible for City’s Champions League group stage matches due to not being registered in the initial squad.

Despite this, he has made an explosive start to his Premier League career, becoming a key player by scoring crucial goals and providing assists in his first four appearances.

His immediate impact has not gone unnoticed by manager Pep Guardiola, who has praised the striker as “unbelievable” and highlighted his “incredible energy”.

With Manchester City now safely through to the Round of 16, Semenyo will be eligible for selection in the knockout phase, offering Guardiola an exciting new attacking option for European football’s most prestigious competition.

Semenyo’s seamless transition and goal-scoring form suggest he will play a significant role as City pursue both domestic and European glory in the second half of the season.
