Greater Accra NDC Regional Secretary hopeful, Ebenezer Arkutu, has unveiled a six-pillar development agenda aimed at strengthening party structures, supporting members’ welfare and creating economic opportunities across the region’s 34 constituencies.
Mr Arkutu, a former Constituency Chairman for Ayawaso Central, said his vision is to transform Greater Accra into the most powerful regional bloc in the history of the NDC.
He said the agenda will be implemented through reforms, new structures and programmes to deliver prosperity and growth for members.
Arkutu described it as an embarrassment that after more than 34 years, the NDC does not own a permanent Regional Secretariat and almost all constituencies operate without permanent offices.
He pledged that within 18 months in office, he will acquire land and begin construction of a permanent regional secretariat.
He also proposed a Constituency Infrastructure Fund and a Corporate Adopt-A-Constituency initiative to help constituencies without offices.
To improve members’ welfare, he plans to establish a Regional Health and Medical Aid Fund to assist members facing critical illnesses, surgeries and medical emergencies.
The fund will be supported by voluntary contributions from MPs, appointees and patrons, plus fundraising activities, and will be managed by independent trustees.
His educational proposals include a scholarship desk to connect members to local and international opportunities, a Senior High School placement support desk, and a tertiary admissions hub.
On economic empowerment, Mr Arkutu proposes establishing an NDC logistics and printing business, commercial agricultural ventures, and an interest-free revolving microcredit scheme for party women and young people.
He also envisions constituency equity participation, with profits distributed through quarterly dividends.
The manifesto further promises a Regional Legal Aid Unit to provide eligible members with free legal support, backed by a Legal Defence Fund.
He also promised a complaints and feedback desk accessible through a toll-free hotline, WhatsApp, an online portal and physical suggestion boxes to bridge the gap between leadership and grassroots.
Mr Arkutu said the proposals are aimed at building a stronger, more responsive and financially sustainable regional party structure.
He rallied party members around the call, “3y3 Zu, 3y3 Za!”, urging collective commitment to building a stronger NDC in Greater Accra.
