Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams believes Carlos Queiroz has earned the chance to continue as Black Stars head coach after demonstrating the value of experience at the highest level.
The minister has urged the Ghana Football Association to consider extending the Portuguese coach’s stay, following what he described as a respectable 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
“We should give Carlos Queiroz the opportunity to stay longer. He has proved that a coach matters,” Kofi Adams said on 3FM.
Queiroz took charge of the Black Stars on April 13, 2026, replacing Otto Addo after Ghana’s friendly defeats to Austria and Germany.
Despite receiving the job only weeks before the World Cup, the 73-year-old guided the team through a challenging Group L campaign.
Ghana began the tournament with a 1-0 win over Panama before securing a goalless draw against England. A narrow 2-1 loss to Croatia still saw the four-time African champions advance to the Round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams.
Their journey ended after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia, but Queiroz’s tactical approach received praise for helping Ghana remain competitive despite limited preparation time.
Questions over his future intensified after the coach posted a farewell message on social media, sparking reports that he had stepped down.
However, Queiroz and Kofi Adams have both clarified that no official resignation has been submitted, keeping the possibility of a continued partnership alive.
