Budding female artiste, Maya Blu has spoken against the trend that pushes Ghanaian musicians into identifying themselves as Highlife musicians just to promote Ghana’s age long genre Highlife.

In an interview with BTS, the ‘Good Girl No Dey Pay’ singer argued that, the world has changed musically and won’t be creatively correct for anybody to limit musicians when it comes to crafting their works.
According to Maya Blu, music is supposed to be enjoyed so artistes and musicians should be allowed to explore their full talent in that regard to reach all corners of the world.
“The world has evolved and people are just doing what audiences love”.
“Everyone is doing what they do best, and we have to respect that,” she added.
Maya Blu was dropped from Lynx Entertainment somewhere in December, 2024 by label owner Richie Mensah after her contract run out.
Even though it came as shock to her, the musician maintains that she has moved on and looking to continue her music dream.
“It’s their label, and they can choose to take whatever decision that suits them.My exit from Lynx came as a big shock because there was no disagreement or any hint whatsoever… But I am cool. I don’t have anything against their decision to let me go. We had an agreement, and so, if we have to part ways, I take that in good faith”.
