The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Adam Mutawakilu, has announced the deployment of 200 National Service Personnel to help recover any outstanding water bill arrears amounting to about totaling GH¢916 million.
This move is in line of increasing the revenue base of the GWL.
In an interview with the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, January 13, Mr. Mutawakilu said this was aiming at blocking all holes in the payment and improvement of service delivery for Ghanaian and consumers.
According to him, data shows only 20 to 30 per cent of domestic water users comply by paying their bills digitally, leading income generation due to the unavailability of platforms for customers to pay.
“As of June, our arrears stood at GH¢916 million. The National Service Personnel will go out to pursue these debts while also helping customers understand how to use the MoMo app to make payments,” Mr. Mutawakilu said.
