The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has appealed to the privileged in society to go back to their hometowns and communities to assist in its development as a way of complementing government efforts at developing the country.

He explained that although it was the responsibility of the government to lead the crusade for development in the country, going back to one’s community or hometown to help which is a civic responsibility would go a long way to speed up the development of the nation.

The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin announced this on Monday when the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on him at the Ofori Panin Fie (Okyenhene’s Palace) at Kyebi in the Eastern region.

The visit to the palace by the Education Minister was to discuss issues relating to education development in the area and the country as a whole.

Other members of the delegation were the Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, (GES) Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh and others.

Commendation

The Okyenhene, eulogized Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, for his role in restructuring and revamping the nation’s education sector.

He was upbeat that if the various initiatives are supported by all and allowed to work stood the chance of turning the nation’s economy around since it would train enough personnel for the 21st-century industrial revolution so they could compete in the job market globally.

The Okyenhene appealed to all and sundry to contribute their quota towards the creation of enabling environment schools in their communities to ensure that effective teaching and learning took place for children to study hard.

The Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, on his part said the attainment of holistic education in the country required the collective effort of all stakeholders.

He said to attain quality education, there was the need for all stakeholders and players from the various sectors of the economy to contribute their quota towards the attainment of quality and holistic education for the country.

The Education Minister said, although the government was doing everything possible to ensure that the right resources were provided for effective teaching and learning at all levels of education in the country, there was a need for all other stakeholders to complement the government’s effort toward the attainment of quality and holistic education.

He explained that the various participants could complement the government’s effort by ensuring that they worked very hard wherever they are to support the development of the nation’s economy.

Visitation to schools

He appealed to people in leadership positions as well as professionals in the country to make it a habit of visiting schools in their areas to motivate children in schools so they could study hard to attain their future dreams. Dr Adutwum who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti region said the huge investment being made by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government was due to the interest it had in the education sector.
