More than 20 NDC MPs on Friday, March 24, 2023, broke ranks with their leadership over the six (6) ministerial nominees of the Akufo-Addo-led government.
This came after hours of intense drama and chaotic scenes ahead of the vote.
The NDC party failed to marshal its numbers in parliament as the rebel MPs defied orders by the Dr Cassiel Ato Forson leadership for the total rejection of the nominees.
Adansi Asokwa MP Kobina Tahir Hammond has been approved as the Minister of Trade and Industry, with Dr Stephen Amoah appointed as his Deputy.
Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, has been approved by the house as the Minister of Food and Agriculture. The Member of Parliament for Karaga, Mohammed Amin Adam, heads to Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
Stephen Asamoah Boateng is the new Minister for Religious and Chieftaincy affairs, while Osei Bonsu Amoah heads to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as Minister of State.
