MTN Ghana, in partnership with the New Media Association of Ghana (NMAG), has held the second edition of its Bloggers Forum as part of activities marking the telecommunications company’s 30th anniversary. History

The forum, held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the MTN House in Accra, brought together bloggers, digital journalists, content creators and other digital media practitioners for discussions on issues shaping the country’s evolving digital media space.

This year’s engagement focused largely on the growing role of technology in content creation and digital journalism, with facilitators taking participants through artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, social media safety and connectivity.

Participants were encouraged to understand how AI tools can support their work while ensuring that the technology is used responsibly, particularly in an industry where accuracy, originality and credibility remain important.

The cybersecurity session also highlighted the need for bloggers and content creators to take steps to protect their social media accounts and other digital platforms from online threats.

With much of the work of new media practitioners now taking place online, issues surrounding reliable internet connectivity also formed part of the discussions. For bloggers and content creators who frequently work from events and other locations, access to dependable and affordable data remains an important part of their daily operations. From publishing breaking news to livestreaming and uploading photos and videos, much of their work depends on stable internet connectivity.

Speaking at the forum, MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer (CCSSO), Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, emphasised the importance of continued engagement between MTN Ghana and members of the new media community. She noted that as the digital media space continues to evolve, collaboration with bloggers and content creators remains important to MTN Ghana’s efforts to reach and engage audiences across the country.

In his remark, President of the New Media Association of Ghana (NMAG) and founder of Nkonkonsa.com, Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its continued support for members of the association. History

He further appealed to MTN Ghana to consider introducing a special data package for bloggers and verified new media practitioners to support their work, particularly as data remains an essential tool for content creation and digital publishing. He noted that data has become an essential working tool for digital media professionals, particularly those who produce and distribute multimedia content regularly.

A dedicated package, he suggested, could help reduce some of the data-related challenges faced by bloggers and enable them to work more efficiently, especially when covering live events or breaking news.

The forum also provided an opportunity for members of NMAG to interact directly with MTN Ghana representatives, ask questions and share concerns about telecommunications services and challenges within the digital media space. Discussions further touched on possible areas of collaboration between MTN Ghana, new media practitioners and event organisers, particularly around connectivity at major events.

The forum ended with prizes presented to lucky bloggers, including a mobile phone, shopping vouchers and airtime.
