The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has sent an unexpected message to Ghanaians over the passage of the controversial E-levy.

The E-levy was passed by the majority in Parliament on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, after the minority walked out of Parliament. On the 31st of March, 2022, the President assented the bill into law.

Some Ghanaians have seriously blamed the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin for allowing the majority to pass the E-levy even though there are some questions of the majority not having a quorum.

Meanwhile, Speaker Bagbin while swearing-in some executives for Parliamentary business today, April 4, 2022, revealed that Ghanaians cannot blame him for decisions that are taken in the House, especially concerning the passage of the E-levy by the majority

He revealed that the constitution only allows him to preside over the House and not take part in decision making..
