Sarkodie has switched allegiance to Senegal shortly after they clinched their first-ever AFCON cup by beating Egypt.

Senegal won the keenly contested shootout 4-2, with Mane converting the winning penalty as his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah was forced to watch on.

The rapper who hugely supported Black Stars throughout their group campaign until their ill-fated meltdown at the hands of minnows and debutants Comoros said he wishes to fly to Senegal to join them in their celebration.

He said he can imagine the euphoria that has engulfed the West African country presently and wishes to be part of it.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool player cum pundit Jamie Carragher has described Mohammed Salah’s decision to be the 5th penalty taker at the grand finale of the 2021 AFCON as madness.

He compared it to Portugal’s decision to place Cristiano Ronaldo fifth against Spain at the Euros in 2012 which backfired and believes Mo Salah had taken his spot-kick from the beginning, the narrative would have changed.

Like Ronaldo, Salah could only watch on as his team fell to defeat without him having a chance to participate in spot-kicks and this has hurt a lot of fans from Egypt.

Jamie tweeted shortly after the game saying;

“That is why your best penalty taker should never go fifth. Mo Salah not taking a penalty for Egypt in a shootout in a final is madness. Also happened to Ronaldo years ago for Portugal v Spain. #AFCON2021 #SENEGY.”
