The Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has called on Ghanaians clamouring for a load-shedding timetable to release one themselves.
In an interview on the ongoing erratic power outages in the country, Dr Opoku Prempeh suggested that those seeking a timetable for these outages should take the initiative themselves.
In a video shared by top news shows the minister emphasized that he sees no necessity for a timetable, especially when the power distributor has indicated that the current situation does not warrant one.
He however assured the public that efforts are being made to address the challenges being faced in the power sector.
Prior to this response, the Minister had refuted claims that the country has regressed to the era of ‘dumsor’, a term used to describe the erratic power supply experienced during the administration of John Dramani Mahama.
Despite increasing demands for a structured load-shedding timetable, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) remains steadfast in its refusal to implement one. ECG maintains its stance by stating that there is no official declaration of a “dumsor” situation, thus rendering a timetable unnecessary.
