Sensational hilife legend Akablay revealed that, he has received several awards in Ghana, but awards in Ghana lacks value and no money is attached to it.

Akablay disclosed this on ‘Top Pawa  Drive ’ live on  Top103.1fm  during a studio interview with foxx.

He said the “organizers and the institutions who gives out awards must implant money to it”.

Akablay also said hilife music is sinking because the youth are not propagating the genre. Hilife music gave birth to all the music genres we have now, so it must be celebrated.

We have world jazz day and reggae festivals, so I also originated this concept “World Hilife Day” for us to celebrate our heritage on the 4th March 2022 at Alliance Francaise.

He said” hilife is our pride as Ghanaians, because a lot of this young artists are playing and composing hilife music but they don’t parade themselves as hilife musicians but rather afrobeat , afropop artists”.

“Ghana music industry lacks music promoters and investors which is causing the industry to sink”

He also said that the last time he received money from Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) was last year.

I don’t blame them thou because as a musician you must save and also invest into your future as well.

Akablay also disclosed that Nigerians want to claim the ownership of hilife music because Ghanaian musicians lack knowledge about the genre.

He congratulated Kwame Eugene ,Kwasi Arthur ,Kofi Kinaata ,Trigmatic  and Kidi , he said  “these are my best guys in the industry”.

He concluded by advising young musicians   “you must compose good music to attract investors to support your music career”.
