Police Arrests 3 Robbers For Planning To Steal GH¢ 1.3 Million From Gold Dealer

The Special Support Unit (SSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the National Headquarters have arrested three suspects for planning to rob a gold consignment valued at over GH¢ 1.3 million.

The suspects, identified as Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif and Kenneth Khartey, were arrested on Thursday, 26th June 2025, along the Accra–Akuapem–Mamfe road during an Intelligence led operation.

The armed robbers were arrested “following indications that a gold dealer’s driver and a man posing as his bodyguard had conspired to rob the dealer during a scheduled gold delivery the following day.”

The Special Support Unit (SSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the National Headquarters commenced the operation on Wednesday,

“Preliminary investigations revealed that on Thursday, 26th June 2025, Kenneth Khartey was arrested near Akuapem–Mamfe while riding a motorbike and trailing a Land Cruiser transporting the gold consignment.” parts of a police statement read.

“Later that same day, suspects Adams Zibo and Massawud Yussif were arrested at East Legon in an unregistered blue Hyundai vehicle. Investigations established that the two (2) suspects procured firearms, motorbikes and a getaway vehicle for the robbery and were responsible for the sale of the gold after the robbery.

The gold dealer was rescued safely and the gold, weighing approximately 1.2 kilograms and valued at GHC 1,350,343.53 was also secured.
